HaCKeR v1.5.0

HaCKeR v1.5.0 has been released today, and you can grab it at the downloads page.

There's to much new stuff to be listed here, as the whole engine has received a major overhaul.
Some important highlights:
- Direct3D support: enabling the use of your graphics card's hardware acceleration.
- Multiple resolutions: it now runs default at 800x600 in windowed mode.
- PNG graphics format: resulting in smaller images that support more features (like semi transparency).
- OGG sound format: resulting in smaller audio files.

i just registerd
i want to play this game (hacker tetris) in full screen mode.
how do i do that?
i had this game like, a long long time ago but i cant find it on any of my sofware-cd-roms, so i downloaded it here and i wanted to play right away but in this little window it sucks. so please please tell me how i can make it full screen!!?

Hello Cheryl-Ann,

You can press the F11 key to make the game switch to a higher resolution.
If you still want to play in full screen, press ALT+ENTER.

I want to say that I really enjoy HaCKeR! It's AWESOME! Music, Graphics and Gameplay.

However, I recently downloaded a new version from your website, and it told me, when I installed, that the game doesn't work!!! It is missing a file ...

What gives?

The reason I'm so upset, is that I have started a YouTube series where I recommend Quality Freeware Games to viewers. OfficialVGOvideos. I need to play the latest version, so I can showcase it on my Video, but I am unable.

Are there still bugs to work out?

I would appreciate your help in this regard.

Could you run the Check.exe and post here if any file on the list is marked as not found?
If all is correct, it should look like this:
- HaCKeR.exe (found)
- HaCKeR.gph (found)
- irrKlang.dll (found)

If one of those is missing (doubtfull), then please re-download the latest version and re-install it.

Also make sure you have the latest version (9.0c) of DirectX installed, you can find it here at the microsoft site.

My appologies! And I owe you a debt of gratitude as well.

I downloaded DirectX 9 and Installed it, then installed the new HaCKeR game, and VOILA! It worked! I assumed that I had the latest Windows XP.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I'm very close to coming up with a video review. Just a minor concern: is it just me, or has the Joystick Control settings been altered? I'm only able to rotate the pieces using the up and down motion, not any of the buttons. Is there a reason for that? Otherwise, it's just as fun as I remember, and I love the splash screen!

You can go into options on the main menu or controls in the game menu, and assign joystick keys/buttons to the controls you want.

I'll dig up a joystick when I get home tonight and take a look at the default controls, as it sounds odd that it works partly

I hooked up an XBOX360 controller to my PC to test it out.

What is broken is that it doesn't show a description when you assign a joystick button/movement to a control. The actual assigning does work however.

I assigned joystick left/right/down/up to controls left/right/speed up/rotate and the first joystick button to drop down. My whole controls screen looked like none of the controls where mapped to anything, but when I went back into the game, I could play fine with the joystick.

I'll fix the descriptions not showing up in the next update.
Plus I'll add more joystick buttons to it, as it only seemed to recognize 2 on my XBOX360 controller.

When you go into options (controls setup) you will now see a description when assigning joystick input to game actions.

It still surprises me how popular the game is after all this time (fun wise, and download numbers).
Which was the main reason to move up HaCKeR 2 to the top spot on our project list.
Plus it's nice to be able to release the follow up next year, on the 10 year anniversary of HaCKeR
